Olaf Jonkeren studied economics at VU University Amsterdam. His PhD, which he did at the same university, he received in 2009 and was about the economic effects of climate change for the inland waterway transport sector. Olaf subsequently held research positions at the European Commission and PBL Netherlands Environmental Assessment Agency. He is working at KiM since July 2016, where is engaged in projects pertaining to freight transport and the 'wet' transport sectors (inland waterways, sea shipping and ports).
