Cycling facts: new insights
E-bike use increased sharply, especially among people under the age of 65. In 2019 e-bikes account for approximately 18% of all bicycle trips and for more than one-quarter (26%) of the total distance cycled. In 2013, those figures were 8% of all bicycle trips and 12% of the total distance cycled. In addition, the e-bike is becoming increasingly popular for home-work commutes. This is evident from the brochure 'Cycling facts: new insights' by Netherlands Institute for Transport Policy Analysis.
