More than three-quarters of the Dutch population have a positive view of walking, bicycles and cars as modes of transportation. For public transport and air travel, this figure is less than half. In 2025, about half of the Dutch population (almost) never use trains and about half (almost) never use buses, trams or the metro. Slightly more than half did not fly in 2025. The proportion of working people who occasionally avoid peak hours is about 33% among public transport users, which is higher than the proportion among car users, which stands at just over 25%. This and more is revealed by the latest annual survey of participants in the Netherlands Mobility Panel (MPN).
